A New Chapter Built by Hand
After two years of building Katmai Sky Lodge by hand, 2026 marked our first season welcoming guests to our home in Katmai.
Shaped by decades of mentorship and more than 75 years of combined guiding and hospitality experience, we built the lodge around the kind of Alaska experience we’ve always loved most: small groups, wild places, good food, and the freedom to let each day unfold around the weather, wildlife, and the people we’re sharing it with.
With just six guests at a time, Katmai Sky is intentionally small. That allows us to keep each stay personal and flexible- whether the day leads to bears at Brooks Falls, a remote creek, a floatplane adventure, an afternoon of fly fishing, or a quiet morning paddling the lake.
This is our home, and we feel incredibly lucky to share it.

Getting Here
Guests arrive commercially into King Salmon (AKN), where a member of the Katmai Sky team will meet them in the terminal for a seamless welcome and transfer.
From the airport, guests are privately driven to our floatplane dock for a scenic 15–20 minute flight directly to the lodge, offering a first glimpse of Katmai’s lakes, rivers, and wilderness from above.

Fly-Fishing in Katmai
Wild fish. Remote water. Very few people.
Our small-group fly-fishing trips are built around exploring Katmai’s remote rivers, creeks and lakes by floatplane. Depending on the season and conditions, days may be spent chasing wild rainbow trout, Arctic grayling, Dolly Varden and northern pike in places that can only be reached by air.
Whether you’ve been fly fishing your whole life or have never picked up a fly rod, you’re welcome here. We love introducing guests to fly fishing, and with just six guests at the lodge, our days can be tailored around experience level, conditions and what’s fishing best.
