DAILY ROUTINE AT KATMAI SKY LODGE
Our daily schedule changes as much as the weather. While many operations focus on a dedicated time window for your daily adventures, we tailor each day to suit the ever-changing schedule of Alaska. Is there going to be extraordinary photography light at sunrise? Let’s get up early. Does the caddis hatch start at 6pm? Let's have a late departure so we can fish when the trout are rising. Do you want uninterrupted time on the falls platform at Brooks Camp? We are the closest fly out lodge to Brooks Falls and can visit after the July crowds have flown back to Anchorage for the day. We focus on giving small groups a truly special experience where they can get the most out of their time in Alaska.
Most days begin with breakfast and coffee in the main lodge, where your guide will meet you and tell you about what to expect for the day, what to bring, and what time we will depart. Each cabin/tent is equipped with a mini coffee/tea setup for those who like to get up early and start their day with solitude and a warm beverage. After breakfast, you will gather your gear and meet your guide at the spectacular lake in front of the lodge, where you will load up in a Helio Courier to start your adventure. We also have opportunities for hikes with breathtaking views of our incredible Home River right from the lodge. You will be provided a hearty lunch, beverages, and unparalleled service while you venture into the pristine Alaskan backcountry.
Upon returning to the lodge, you will be greeted by smiling faces excited to hear about your day, unparalleled views from the lodge windows, and comfort food cooked with care that will nourish you for the next adventure. During downtime at the lodge, you will have unlimited internet access via Starlink, a canoe to cruise the lake for wildlife viewing or fishing, a map to explore the trails surrounding the lodge, a firepit to share stories and s’mores, and various other activities guided by your hosts.
